Hart leaves Portsmouth

November 24, 2009

Paul Hart has been relieved of his duties as Portsmouth manager.

Hart, 56, leaves the club bottom of the Premier League, and was offered a role as technical director for players aged 18-21 but turned down the role.

Former Chelsea boss, Avram Grant, 54, is widely expected to become the new man in charge but the current director of football is still awaiting a work permit.

Hart made his name for his roles as academy director at Leeds and Nottingham Forest bringing through players such as Alan Smith, Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson and Jermaine Jenas.

He took over from Tony Adams in February 2009 and kept the side in the Premier League, but was hampered by the perilous state of the clubs finances this campaign.

Coaches Ian Woan and Paul Groves have been placed in temporary charge.
