November 25, 2009

Rafael Nadal crashed out of the World Tour Finals tonight as Nikolay Davydenko recorded a  6-1 7-6 win against the world number two.

Nadal is the only player not to have a won a set in the tournament after previously falling to Swede Robin Soderling, who, after beating Novak Djokovic earlier today, is the only player not to have lost one.

Davydenko faces Soderling on Friday and will advance to the semi-finals with a win if Nadal can defeat Djokovic.

With 2 wins, Soderling is favourite to top the group and is on course to avoid world number one Roger Federer in the semis.

The final group games in Group A take place tomorrow: Andy Murray plays Fernando Verdasco and Federer takes on Juan Martin del Potro.

I hope Nadal can return to form in 2010~ It’s a lot of fun to watch the potential Fed/Nadal finals. I’m not sure they’ll be as fun if they aren’t as dominant as the past few years.
