Andy Murray roars during his 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-3) victory

Andy Murray emerged victorious from a thrilling match at the ATP World Tour Finals in London against the Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.

The result means that only a three-set win for Juan Martin Del Potro over Roger Federer tonight will deny Murray a semi-final place.

Decided on a third set tie-breaker, the match ebbed and flowed and thrilled a packed O2 Arena.

“It was an incredible match, probably the longest three-set match I’ve ever played,” said Murray. “When he was down in the games he was serving a lot of aces, I was finding it difficult to return his second serve as well.

“The crowd is special. I think pretty much every match it’s been packed and the tennis has been a very high standard.”
