Babel eyes Birmingham move to revitalise career

Birmingham City have had an £8m bid rejected for Liverpool’s Ryan Babel today. Liverpool are demanding an offer in excess of £11m for the former Ajax wing wizard and Blues manager, Alex McLeish is expected to increase the bid as he opens up the coffers at St Andrews. Carson Yeung has made no secret of his desire to splash the cash during the January window.

McLeish is also preparing a fresh £5m swoop for Glasgow Rangers front man, Kris Boyd. A £3.75m offer had previously being rejected by the Ibrox club but with the player out of contract at the end of the season, it seems likely that the SPL all-time top goalscorer will make the move south of the border.

Familiar face: Diego Forlan could be strutting his stuff in the Premier League again

Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Forlan is believed to be another target at St Andrews. The Blues will have to pay the £12m asking price if they are to lure the Uruguan away from the Vicente Calderon. Birmingham are enjoying their best start to a season in the top flight for over 100 years and boss, McLeish is striving to bring European football to the city. One player who is on the verge of swopping LA Liga for the Premier League is Spanish midfielder, Michel. Alex McLeish is closing in on the £3m rated Sporting Gijon number-8.

Another player linked with a move away from Anfield is Andrea Dossena who has failed to live up to his £7m price tag since joining from Napoli in July 2008. The full-back is set for a return to his homeland as Roma and Napoli prepare bids for the player. Dossena’s exit will provide Rafa with some much needed cash for the Reds who have had well-documented financial problems behind the scenes.

Class act: Roy Hodson struggles to hold on to prize asset

Fulham manager, Roy Hodgson admits it will be difficult to fight off bids from several clubs for the club’s top goalscorer, Bobby Zamora. Everton, Tottenham and Sunderland are hot on the heels of the 28 year-old. Emile Heskey’s misery at Villa Park could be at an end with Liverpool and Chelsea preparing £4m bids for the striker.

Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his strike force in the wake of news that Niklas Bedtner could be side-lined for a further two months providing he undergo’s surgery on his groin. Real Madrid cast-off, Ruud Van Nistelrooy is touted as a possible front man at the Emirate’s although Liverpool may have something to say as they continue to find a partner for Fernando Torres.

Frustration: Klaas Jan Huntelaar could be Emirates bound

Klaas Jan Huntelaar is another Dutch name banded around the terraces in North London. Huntelaar has found it difficult to settle at AC Milan since his move from Real Madrid for £15m and swopping the San Siro for the Emirates may be the ideal move for the 26-year-old.

After Spurs boss, Harry Redknapp expressed his feeling that Russian international, Roman Pavlyuchenko can leave White Hart Lane for the right price, several clubs are poised to snap up the £14m rated marksman. The news has alerted rising Russian club, Rubin Kazan and several Premier League clubs including Everton, Sunderland and Aston Villa.
